Procrastination Does NOT Pay Off!

Moving this weekend actually went really well. The weather was great on Saturday & my furniture got delivered & assembled beautifully! David's mom flew in from Colombia & rode in with his sister, so they helped us get semi-organized. His mom is here for 2 weeks, so that'll be a big help! Sunday it rained off & on (on whenever I'd be bringing in groceries, of course).

A couple of weeks after my tummy tuck, I realized I had a pain in my right shoulder, toward the back. I couldn't lift weights with my right arm past a certain point. I figured I was just weak, something had popped out of place & everything will work itself out. Well... it's been 4 months now and it's only gotten worse. My shoulder blade is legit visibly sticking out of my back & I can only lift my arm at certain angles. I had an appointment set up w/ an orthopedic doctor tomorrow (I made this appt well over a month ago) & of COURSE.. moved to October 1. I've been babying myself just to make it to September 19 & the doctor is gone on MY appt day.

My general physician, who I last saw in July, just thought it was bursitis but said to call if it didn't get better. I called this morning so they're gonna work me in early afternoon. I'm honestly nervous what he's going to say. I assume I'll have to get an MRI, etc, etc... WISH ME LUCK!

I miss my friends

School actually seems to be going by pretty fast. That's the only thing I like about being incredibly busy. BUT I miss my friends. A LOT. Finally got to see one of my besties after about a month for a concert this weekend. I'm still recovering from it lol. I haven't drank in over 2 months, so I had a beer or two.. then the lead singer started buying us drinks & um, NOT GONNA REFUSE.

In high school, me, Lindsey, & Alison were obsessed with Vallejo's music. We would always blare it on the way to the beach in Alison's bug because it's such fun music. We saw them at the Surf Club, met them & got pics w/ them, and eventually grew out of our phase.. until this February! At a hockey game w/ my sister, Holly, & Ashley, we were told that Vallejo was gonna be at the Surf Club so I texted Lindsey & we decided to all meet up there after the game. Our love of them came flooding back & we converted our friends to fans! Can't find that picture right now, but here's one from when we saw them in July!!

This Saturday's concert was the best one ever though. Since David is Colombian, I stereotyped & told him he'd like Vallejo since they're kinda Latin-rock. Well, he liked them! Hah. We were taking pics & hanging out with the singer but couldn't all go party @ Mulligan's since Traci is only 18, so we hung out at the House of Rock w/ AJ until after 2 in the morning. Here's a couple fun pics of that...

Wish these pictures wouldn't auto-rotate!!!

I also really wish Holly & Ashley would have been able to come! I miss them both a LOT. Considering I live in the same city as Holly & we barely see each other sucks.

My dad is SIXTY!

I was busy all day yesterday working on a Capstone assignment, so happy belated birthday to my dad! I keep trying to post a picture of him & I but it won't rotate =( wah. I bought him a blue Islander's cap & an TAMU-CC Alumni t-shirt. I also bought him an "Islander Dad" shirt a couple weeks ago and then my mom & I bought him 3 new grabbers

For those of you who don't know, he's technically considered "permanently disabled." He had a spinal fusion and can't bend over very far so he depends on these grabbers to pick up items off the floor and to help him with his shoes. These grabbers are all over the fucking house; they're like roaches!! Everywhere you turn, you're knocking one (or 5) over.

My sister bought him the entire collection of Dinosaurs on DVD. We, as a family, used to watch this show ALL the time & we still quote it till this day; "Not the mama!!" "I'm the baby, gotta love me!"

My family has never been one to go out to eat. My dad wanted surf-n-turf for dinner so he decided to BBQ for us. We had grilled tilapia, grilled chicken, & we all shared a flank steak.

Holy.

Jesus.

Not to mention, my sister roasted asparagus and my mom made warm lemon pudding cake for dessert. I could not stop burping fish during class (I'm disgusting). Great birthday for him  (& delicious day for all of us!)

In other news, this big lug has quickly taken a huge spot in my heart. Pitbulls get such an awful rap; but they are so incredibly gentle & loving! Yes, some are awful; they are bred to be that way by their owners & it breaks my heart. This guy (Big Love, Diablo, Big'un, whatever you choose to call him) LOVES to cuddle. He'll be laying on the tile floor looking at you longingly until you pat the couch & say "come cuddle!" and he leaps up there with such joy. Then he'll follow you around just to lay in the same space as you (like in the bathroom when I'm getting ready). Scruffy is still my baby, but since Big Love is in the house, we've quickly become very close =)

Labor Day Hangover

I think I mentioned in my previous post, but Labor Day is the biggest celebration of the year for my family. 4? birthdays and of course the actual holiday are celebrated at my aunt Fi & uncle Corky's house EVERY.YEAR. We celebrate on the Sunday before Labor Day. My great aunts & uncles even come to this, that's how big we do it. This year was no different! Had a blast catching up with my family & eating way too much food (& sweets...). Back on track today!

Only one issue bothered me this year... my aunt mentioned there was a bunch of brush covering my grandpa's headstone when she stopped by last month. I stopped by the cemetery on my way home to 1) wish Matt a happy belated birthday & 2) visit & pray at my grandpa/uncle/grandma's site. My grandpa is buried between my uncle & my grandma. Well, when I got to their site, his marker wasn't there. I was already crying & trying not to have a panic attack because I thought it had been stolen. But no; it was buried under at LEAST 4 inches of weeds & dirt. I reached my hand down through it & began ripping away like a crazy person to uncover his marker. How dare Seaside treat any marker this way, let alone a WWII vet. Needless to say, it took me awhile to calm down after all that. I miss my grandpa so much; I still think about him every single day.

I'm all moved in to my parents house yet I'm moving out again on the 14th. Hah. So much fun. It's a lot to get used to after waking up alone for a year & now waking up to 3 of the noisiest, most talkative people (& 5 dogs) every morning!

I have my first presentation of the semester tonight... & it's worth 60% of my grade. WISH ME LUCK!
